Sarginsons speak at major regional event

November 17, 2017

Sarginsons played a key role in a major networking event which showcased the range of funding opportunities available in the Coventry and Warwickshire region.

Coventry and Warwickshire Access to Finance was organised by Coventry City Council and was hosted at the Butts Park Arena.

The informative session proved a success as scores of people turned out to find out more about the help available to them and how to access it.

Coventry and Warwickshire Access to Finance was aimed at both existing enterprises looking to expand or for those looking to start a small to medium business.

A trio of major funding schemes were showcased which were the Coventry and Warwickshire Business Support Programme, the Coventry and Warwickshire Innovation Programme and the Coventry and Warwickshire Green Business Programme.

Exhibitors on the day included Coventry City Council, Warwickshire County Council, Coventry and Warwickshire Growth Hub and Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce who also highlighted the different support and advice that is available throughout the region.

A series of informative talks were also on offer for guests and featured businesses, including Sarginsons Industries Ltd, Marchant Cain Design Ltd and Rightangled Ltd, who have directly benefited from the funding initiatives.

Cllr Jim O’Boyle, cabinet member for jobs and regeneration said, “Small and medium sized businesses employ more people in this city than larger companies when you add up the numbers and they have a really important role to play in the economy of our city.

“But, they often need a helping hand when it comes to funding or advice and that’s why events like this are so important. We have European cash to invest in kit and premises and well as low carbon initiatives and emerging technology.

“Coventry has a rich tradition of innovation and I was delighted to see so many businesses and new start-ups keen to take advantage of the support we can offer.”

The three programmes, which are part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund, provide an integrated and flexible support service to businesses who have fewer than 250 employees:

Business Support Investment Fund provides up to £50,000 grant for purchase of capital assets e.g. machinery/equipment, hardware/software, refurbishment, or purchase of new premises.

Green Business Programme helps businesses save energy, cut costs and make the most of low carbon opportunities. Grants of up to £100,000 for energy efficiency measures.

Innovation Programme supports local businesses to develop and test new products, services and technologies, with grants of up to £50k available to assist businesses in this process.
