Sarginsons Improve Castings

The transition from cast component design to actual production is fraught with difficulty, because traditional simulations are unreliable, variables too numerous, and the casting process misunderstood. The Casting Industrialisation Hub surrounds Sarginsons breakthrough TYE simulations with a other new technologies that together, turn traditional casting myths into liquid metal engineering. 

Better casting solutions are found and exported to FEA meshes, allowing precise development without the cost, time and uncertainty of physical interruptions. And it's not just the casting process; problems in heat treatment, CNC machining and surface finish, are all being addressed through this agglomeration of the latest casting technologies. 

There are no casting problems, only casting designs that haven't been optimised by casting technology.

Casting Is All Variables

Castings are susceptible to an enormous number of variables which means any change to the process, however slight, can cause the casting to deviate from the required geometry and mechanical properties. And moving from casting prototypes, in sand, to full scale production with hard tools is riven with potential critical variabilities.

Virtual Testing Is Vital

The ability to accurately simulate the TYE and fatigue of a casting is a good starting point for remediation, but augmented solidification studies, heat treatment simulations and mechanically accurate sand castings are also a vital part in determining the correct solution. Where component design is thought to be problematic Sarginsons unique DfM+ is also invaluable.

The Industrialisation Hub

Sarginsons Industrialisation Hub is designed to predominately act as a precursor to principal production. The idea is that simulations, testing, and ramp up volumes can be used to reduce variability, before full production. Whilst this approach can be used to avoid production issues, it is also capable of quickly resolving issues that are already in production.
